Dr. Rohit Mehrotra is the former Professor and Head of the Department of Orthodontics at Terna Dental College & Hospital, Navi Mumbai. He completed his B.D.S. from Nair Hospital Dental College, Mumbai in 1995 and M.D.S. in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics from Government Dental College & Hospital, Chennai, on March 2000. He has been bestowed two of the most coveted awards of the Indian Orthodontic Society – The Best Clinical Paper Award at the 48th Indian Orthodontic Society Conference in 2013 and the Student’s Best Clinical Paper Award at the 34th Indian Orthodontic Society Conference in 1999. He was also bestowed with the “Orthodontist of the year” award at the Famdent Excellence In Dentistry Awards 2014.

The initial ten years since completing his post-graduate studies, Dr. Rohit Mehrotra served the dual role of a practicing clinician as well as a university teacher. He held successive faculty positions of Lecturer, Reader, Associate Professor, and HOD and ultimately Professor and Head of the Department of Orthodontics at Terna Dental College & Hospital, Navi Mumbai. He has been appointed university examiner in the subject of orthodontics several times during his teaching career.

Though he enjoyed his role as a teacher, he views himself first and foremost as a clinician. Due to the increasing demands of his private practice, he quit his faculty position in March 2010 and has been exclusively in private practice since then.Ever since he started his practice in June 2000, his emphasis has been on achieving clinical excellence in all aspects of orthodontic care for both children and adults.

Orthodontic Treatment for children is an immensely satisfying experience for him, as it not only improves their occlusion and smile, but the improvement in facial esthetics has a very positive effect on their personality helping them grow into confident and happy adults. Dr. Rohit Mehrotra himself has an excellent academic record, not only holding merit positions during his days as a dental student but had consistently been among the top rank holders at various national level exams and competitions, and he enjoys sharing his experience and motivating his young patients to excel academically.

He is trained in most of the contemporary orthodontic appliance systems and treatment philosophies. His interest in orthodontic treatment of adults motivated him to take special training in lingual orthodontics, (which deals with putting braces on the inside surface of teeth) and also clear aligners to provide esthetic and invisible treatment options to his patients.

He is a certified provider of both “Invisalign” (arguably the most advanced clear aligner system worldwide) as well as “Incognito” (among the most highly rated customized lingual orthodontic appliance system globally). He is one of the first providers of fully customized “Insignia” appliance in India.

He is a founder member of the Lingual Orthodontic Society (India) and is a Life Member of the Indian Orthodontic Society.He has been an Invited speaker at various dental and orthodontic academic meets and conferences and his clinical work has been published in reputed scientific journals.

Besides practicing at his own clinic “Smile & Profile” at Andheri West (earlier situated at Vile Parle East), Mumbai, Dr. Rohit Mehrotra is attached as a consultant orthodontist in several other specialty dental clinics in Mumbai, wherein he takes care of the orthodontic patients in those practices.

Apart from Orthodontics, he also practices Implant Dentistry. He has a fellowship in Implant and Esthetic Dentistry, from Nobel Biocare, Sweden. Extensive knowledge of Orthodontics, Implantology and Facial and Dental Esthetics gives him cutting edge expertise in planning and providing the most contemporary multidisciplinary dentofacial treatment to his patients.
